The Union Street is very pleased to welcome Ian Janes back to our stage on Saturday, April 21st! And Ian will be bringing his band – Owen Lee (keyboards, vocals), Bruce Dixon (bass, vocals) and JR Smith (drums).
Ian Janes is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer living in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Janes’ latest release, Yes Man, has been met with immediate and overwhelmingly positive critical acclaim. The record was given 4 out of 5 possible stars by Rolling Stone France, chosen as ‘disc of the day” by Le Journal de Montréal, was nominated for four 2017 Music Nova Scotia awards and nominated for “Pop Recording of the Year” at the 2018 East Coast Music Awards.
In March 2017 Ian’s song “Can’t Remember Never Loving You” was used to close the mid-season finale of the hit TV show “Nashville”. The song vaulted into the U.S Top 50 iTunes chart the week after the show’s airing, as recorded by the show’s two stars – Connie ‘Rayna’ Britton and Charles ‘Deacon’ Esten. The song was co-written with veteran Nashville songwriter Byron Hill (George Straight, George Jones, Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick). Ian’s own version of the song was released on January 12, 2018.
Yes Man is packed with great musical performances including: drummers John O’Reilly Jr. (Fun, Mandy Moore, Jason Mraz) and Jano Rix (Zack Brown Band, The Wood Brothers, Buddy Miller), bassist Nicholas D’Amato (Lizz Wright) and pedal steel from Russ Pahl (Elton John, Ray Lamontagne, John Hiatt). As usual, Ian contributed all lead vocals, guitars and plenty of his own background vocals along with appearances from some of his favourite singers: Muzz Marshall, Reeny Smith and Owen Lee.
Tickets are $20. Tickets are non-refundable.
“One of the best songwriters from the east coast, like, ever.
